There are two main-differences.

a ) The 90nm core consumes less power, therefore is quite a bit cooler than the 130nm core. This results in better overclocking options.
b ) The 90nm core is most of the time 1-4% faster than the 130nm core with the same speed. This is because of the architecture which is improved.
