FC3 is quite sweet actually. If you just want a generally well supported, stable, easy to use and install, and filled with packages for server sor desktops, its really a good choice. Its 3 disks though.
Nearly every package you might want comes out in FC3 rpms, thing is, if the rpm actually has FC3 in the name, you won't have dependancy issues, because those packages are usally checked up against a stock FC3 to add in all that they need in the package itself. yum is really a good update system, freshrpms a good source.
Ubuntu, well, it is nice. For being its 1st release.. and climbing to the very top of distrowatch immediatly. that shows something. Its based on debian, so its stable, and it has the good apt/synaptic file manager, which I really enjoy.(apt-get install name, or load synaptic and just scroll down and install w/e u need, u can add other repositories) Its gnome based just like FC3, its simple, easy to use, its fast, really fast, and its only 1 cd. I liked how they just install, they don't bug you for options, its just simple to use and install. Negatives I would say is that the debian base has some issues with newer objects such as ndiswrapper, and doing raw .configure, make, make install isn't so simple, debian has some tricks in doing that. somethign like make deb or something u gotta add in. It was a bit tricky for me.No wireless means its useless on that box.
