thx guys for the positive feed back.
so i bought it. this morning (4/28/05 @ 7am) and beat it 6 hours (1pm) later here is what i think of DOOM3: ROE
the levitator is nice, i use it all the time killing the evil minions with crates, barrels and there own plasma balls
which i think is a good perk of the game. though it does remind of the grvity gun in HL2 but it does not work by
the same mechanic, your hold time is limited and and it is more more skill oriented. the double barrel sawed off
is gut buster and a half taking down minions like a hot knife through butter.and for the artifact, theres nothing
like a FPS with a little max payne bullet time added in, that thing has saved my skin multple times though out
the coarse of the game.
all in all i also did not get bored with this expansion. it was smooth, action packed (unless you play it on easy)
and itexplained more indepth about the ancient culture which was cool.
the level design was pretty good i thought for the most part, except some of those boring indoor levels that i yhought plagued the original doom3.
the enviorment was right on, the lighting was excellent tough there where far less "black areas".
i belaeve that will demistify then people who think since an area is totaly dark the engine isnt realy
rendering the gfx, instead just b a black screen. the models where done very well, as well as the textures.
the sound was consistent, flowing nicely, nothing out of place there.
i also agree that the 1.2 patch included did increase and stablize proformance quite a bit. i can now run this
game with a hitch at 1024x768 with x4 AA and X8 AF, rarely running below 40fps.
what i did not like was the fact that this game was short, only 12 levels in all
and nothing new to realy explore the games engine but that is only minor.
i thought it would be cooler if there were more objects to use with the levitator,
i guess i am asking for a even more inter active enviorment.
i give this game a 8 out of 10
