I must have the 'uber 1337' version, because Rome is, technically, a turn-based strategy. And yes, I was referring to the building management, rather than the battles. I would rather the battles be intelligently controlled by AI. For instance, the player can formulate a battle plan, and have secondary control over the war, but the game will continue, and the player doesn't need to fight the wars themselves - they will continue if they leave the system. Planets are pretty big, and it would take months, if not years to capture one. Of course, this would require some form of time dilation or some pretty clever use of perception...
And @fineliner - its taken me around 2 years already, and I haven't finished the documentation yet

I'm using Gamemaker6 to make this version of the game, and I'm a pretty advanced user, so it will be fairly easy, but not too fast.
