Consoles are meant to do one thing - Play Games

-Not run windows
-Not run Norton
-Not run any taskbar BS

It's simply a matter of usage. Think of the Xbox 360 or PS3 as a 440 crate motor. Take that motor and throw it in a newer vehicle, strip it down completely for weight, give it tires and a steering wheel, throw it on a track and watch it whoop some serious tail all day long.

Now take that same motor and put it in that same vehicle but leave all of the factory accessories attached (radio, air conditioning, power seats, power mirrors, blah, blah, blah). That same motor is not going to show it's true capability with all of that added weight and having to run that vehicle with Backstreet Boys greatest hits thumpin on the radio, the air going, daytime running lights, oil change and engine lights (you get the picture).

Put it this way. Consoles will consistently lack the capabiliies of the PC when it comes to doing things like surfing the web, while burning a CD, while playing a game of solitaire and waiting for "legal" music to download. If you don't need the amenities that a PC brings then go buy a console. If you can honestly say that you would be willing to give up those things for a console that out performs graphically (which will only last about six months) then do what you have to do. But I garuntee one thing, when future games like Quake 5 or Call of Duty 3 are released it will be like comparing Doom 3 on the PC to that of the current Xbox. HDTV or not; it's still no contest.
