Let me guess , you`re a quake fan ?... Predictable reply "hes a dumbass and quake is cool".... If this game would be a total load of crap , guys like you would still buy it and say its cool beacuse of the legend that is q2 , q3 and so on... That what being a fan is all about , staying with the team for better or worse , i congratulate you for that , but dont call me a dumbass just because i have a different opinion .
Quake is at least 50% doom3 , you said it yourself , why ? because the game developers have to get paid thand quake being a successfull francize doesnt need a lot of work , and using an existing engine is a good way to cut corners for an extra buck.
Why do you think the bonus disk is there ? more content = more money .
Bottom line : i think were all a little dissapointed , even you my dumbass friend , and even e guy that`s been modifing my posts , probably because he got tired of walking around pushing buttons and came here to show off his frustration .

If anything, I'm a fan of multiplayer games and Deathmatch. as for being a fanboy of anything? not really
I'm not trashing on you because you have a different opinion, I'm trashing on you because your an idiot. Examples?
"they copied everything from doom 3"
"DOOM 3 , or was it QUAKE 4 ... i dunno , i kind of confuse them , since THEY ARE THE SAME !" I explained exactly how similar the gameplay is
" Thats not what i wrote , some wise guy must have edited my post " Look back at your post, nothing was edited.
"more content = more money"
"quake being a successfull francize doesnt need a lot of work" Yes because making hours of gameplay, and tons of levels and features takes no work at all...
Oh and the fact that you can't spell to save your life.
Listen, Quake4 is a simply fun game, it uses the Doom3 engine why? because the Doom3 engine is one of the best on the market right now. iD has always had a solid API to work with, just look at all the games that came from Quake3's engine. No other commercial engine out there right now can reproduce the lighting, the UI(control panels, mouseover effects, the radio stuff, the mission objectives), and the cross-platform capability that the Doom3 engine currently offers. Yes, even when UE3 becomes commercially available, Doom3's engine will still be a very viable alternative.
Now that I've addressed the fact that your a certifiable dumbass, here are some reasons for why Quake isn't so "dissappointing."
Now exactly why where you disappointed? the game is fun, it looks good, sounds good, runs good, and with the multiplayer and mod-base of the community, thats pretty solid. Yeh, the game doesn't have anything amazingly new or innovative, but it's still a solid game, I just don't understand how much of a spoiled brat you have to be to say a solid game is disappointing.
Yeh I think it's a shame that the Quake franchise is no longer evolving multiplayer gaming, but we all knew that was coming (check the Fall of iD thread if you still don't get it). But the multiplayer mode is still pretty damn good, one of my Top5 MP games. Between, BF2, UT2k4, CSS/DoDS/HL2 and Q4, there is most of this generation's good MP gaming, and I don't think any gamer that appreciates MP would deny Q4 a spot on their Top 5 MP games available right now. As for SP, the more I play, the more it seems like a mix of CoD, Halo, and Quake2 in the Doom3 engine.
