I have a Compaq Presario 5000 PC

Sorry but your comp just doesn't cut it, forget about a new video card and save for a new set up. If you have to buy a new graphics card it'll need to be AGP X2 :Oo: as its the the max your Compaq Presario 5000 can handle, like i said save for a new comp.

Oh man, I just won the bid on a Geforce FX5500 256MB AGP 8X W/DVI out for $40. Are you saying it won't work on my PC?[/b][/quote]
My pridiction of your comp may of been wrong, i now see theres a Presario 5000 series(it helps if you can give more details on your spec)
If this is your comp-->
another presario 5000 you'll be fine running a FX5500. Although Halo is a couple of year old its still quite demanding with the latest hardware, even on the above P5000 and FX5500 you'll find the game will struggle, you might get a decent frame rate by setting all ingame options to low and res@800x600.
Goodluck.
