First of all , yes , i am going to butcher the daylights out of this game because it`s the story of the big company making some comercial crap just to sell it , unlike the previous title , Mafia. I am not a die-hard fan of anything , mafia,illusion softworks , the godfather , baloons , etc... But i would go so far as to say DON`T BUY THIS GAME , in order to boycot EA GAMES and stopping such crap from being released again.
First off you can model your character ,i personally don`t see a game where you can "tune" your mobster something that should be taken seriosly. I absolutely hated the graphics , cars are appearing in front of you , very close , and one shadow came from behind -yes , a shadow- and 2m in front of me actually spawned a car on it. The cars seemed to be copied , there are probably about 5-6 models (pickup,sedan,coupe,truck,sportcar,police car), wich look alike and have crappy colours , and blank windows. That`s right , you don`t even get see-through like in mafia. Just some blue pannels that crack. The city is unrealisticly static with some paper flying around every corner,square streets, no side-alleys except some that you have buisness in , the sky looks like crap , 99% of the driving areas are streets in the city, the cars are kind of square and appear very close , just like the pedestrians do, it`s very annoying.
There are no sound options, or maybe i`m a moron and didn`t find them but that never happened to me, few video options, controls that are just slapped on a list randomly.
Speaking of controls, this is where "The Godfather" really hits the bottom. Your character is handled sort of like in GTA:sa with a revolving camera, but more annoying. When you just want to beat someone on the street you have to push a button to aim , one to hold , and threee more to kick or punch him.
The car control is like having a Go-cart on air. Suspensions go a long way for a 1936 car and the car turns almost 90 degrees at low speed. This is available for all the 6 cars , cause in the end that`s all you have just that some drive faster.You are notified of it`s damage like in gta , steam,smoke,fire.
So.. whats good about this game ? Well , you get the original voice of Marlon Brando,but of course you can alwais watch the movie, the fire and debris effects are good, the soundtrack is good. Aparently EA considered that these were the elements it should focus on to make something sell... And it will, almost everyone i know is waiting for this game comparing it to Mafia , wich is the last thing you should do if you want to be able to convince yourself to play it.
I am comparing it to mafia because it`s the next best thing, and even gta , they are BETTER than this. Mafia got released in 2002 ! 4 years later there`s a game that it almost in every way worse , and made by the leading game company in the world ??!! For christ sake , at least the graphics could have been decent, there are Quad-sli pc`s out there, DDR 2 and dual core processors that could have handle it .
I have backed down twice from writing this , going back in the game and playing a little , and getting pissed again on one thing or another, but i feel cheated after waiting for it and thinking "wow , they made a game after that movie, i bet it will be better that mafia, ea games makes cool games..." I did not finish it, you can hold that against me , but the stuff i`ve seen so far can`t be mended by more gameplay anyway.

Hate me if you want , i hate this game more and the people that made it for money instead of making something everyone can enjoy. The gaming industry was not built on comercial games, but on great ideas and inovations with "entertaining the user" in mind, not "taking his money".
In conclusion, i think it`s not worth buying , if you think i`m full of crap than i`m sorry i wasted your time.
