To be fair, the Source Engine has been improved upon quite substantially since its release, with the implementation of HDR and more dashing effects. Compare Dark Messiah of Might and Magic to HL2 for instance, and you can see quite a graphical leap. Taking advantage of multicore technology can only be a good thing, seeing as though only a handful of games are multi-threaded, such as Quake 4.
Putting synthetic benchmarks aside, will Quad 2 Duo really offer a
huge improvement in gaming FPS over Core 2 Duo? I'd like to see some gaming benchmarks before conclusively saying yes.
