I don't think people are following MS blindly! Look at the games for windows thing. Not a lot of devs are doing that cause it basically sucks. Vista is not exactly the greatest thing either. I have not got to play with Zune yet so, I don't know if that sux or not. And I will agree with you about the failure rates on the 360s. Way beyond unacceptable as it the time it takes to get them returned which is somewhere in the 6-8 week ballpark. If I had to wait that long, I would be tempted to go get a different console too!

As far as the 360 goes though, it is not a bad machine, when it is not RRoD or eating discs. I think a lot of people bought the 360 in the first year it was out and there was no competition. So, you either went to the 360 for next gen or waited. For me, it was simple. Get the 360. Not because I want to follow MS blindly but, because of the games! I don't watch movies on it or use it for some greater good. I use it to play games and that is it! MS offers gamers a choice and I think that is what people like. If you want to watch HD, you can choose to go get the player. Now, I don't like the fact that you cant use any other wifi connector aside from MS'. I should be able to plug in my linksys thing to it and it work instead of stretching a cat 5 cable across the damn floor.

To me, the PS3 just isnt there yet. Its over priced, the keep adding bigger hdds and then up the price again to then get rid of the smaller version, bluray does nothing for me as I don't watch movies, and the biggest thing, there are no good games for it yet! This is a problem for a hardcore gamer! Now I do like the free online thing but as I hear it, when you download a demo, you have to install it! What since does that make? The ps3 is not a puter, it is a game console! Well, it is supposed to be anyway. Now I am sure a year from now it might be better but, until then, I refuse to pay for it.

The Wii is great fun and I love mine. Hell, everyone loves my Wii! The problem with the Wii is that there were basically only mini game games out for it. Sure they are fun but, that wears off after a while. Metroid 3 came out and that should be good but it is only one game! There are sports games for it but, they get old as well. When the Wii comes out with top notch games, it will be almost unstopable. Going online couldn't hurt either.

Over all, the 360 is the best gaming bang for my buck right now and the Wii is a nice backup. This may change during the upcoming holiday season though

Overall, I play the 360 not because I follow MS blindly, but because of the reasons above and many more!

Don't get me wrong though, sooner or later I will have a ps3. Mainly because I want all the consoles
