Ofcourse you do, but if you had a 8800 GTS which is the direct opponent of the 2900 XT your story would be completely different. Please compare cards against it's real competition instead of randomly naming one
Edit: hmm, looked it up, I admit my mistake like a real man. No card is compatible to DX 10.1, mixed it up with the pci 2 standard story I did get right.
