Your screen has a native resolution which will ALWAYS display the best quality picture. On LCD panels you will find that this is always the highest supported resolution detected by the display driver. Anything below that will have lower quality.

If your game does not support the native resolution, you need to choose a resolution that has an equivalent aspect ratio. Widescreen ratios are 16:9 and 16:10. If you can try a resolution of 1440x900 or 1680x1050 and whack on 4x AA and 16x AF.

In relation to the Crysis BETA you may want to just navigate to the Crysis folder (c:\program files(x86)\EA Games\Crysis BETA) and run the Crysis.exe
