I was just using that dragunov to repeatedly shoot off those soldiers on the bridge

I think they are playing this on safe by continuing the same gameplay that the earlier Call Of Duty's had.
I would've loved to see them take some risks and add in some diversities, extra objectives if you take another road, make sure there are other roads.
Make your teammates do stuff too, and all.
