Well I've got my system running at maximum effectiveness again :-)
Right now my spec's are:
Intel Core2Xtreme QX6850 @ 3.6 GHz (450x8)
EVGA 780i SLI
(2) x 1GB Crucial Ballistix PC2 8500
(2) x XFX 8800GTX
(2) x WD 80GB sata drives at Raid0 (Vista Home Premium)
(1) x Maxtor 250GB sata drive (Windows XP Pro)
(1) x Maxtor 250GB sata drive (Data)
Cooler Master Real Power Pro 1250w power supply
Sony 20x DVD/ROM
Samsung 16x DVD Burner
NEC Floppy Disk Drive
Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme
Cooler Master Stacker Case
I just got the new EVGA 780i SLI mobo. I read a bunch of reviews on this mobo
and I already knew they ran hot so I modded the Northbridge cooling 1st thing.
So instead of using the supplied NB fan I attached a fan from a Athlon XP heatsink.
And I was surprised that there was a blank spot in the back panel/IO shield area
right at the other end of the heatpipe assembly. So I attached a 20x20mm fan at
that location. Gotta luv Tie Straps. So far my mod is working Great, my NB temps
hover in the 45-50dC range.
Here's a few pic's :-)
And with a little tweaking I've gotten a 3DMark06 score of 18977 :-)
