There is nothing about those specs that will intimidate Nvidia. All of those parts are limited by the 256-bit ringbus architecture, regardless of the 4870X2.

Nvidia's dual-GPU GeForce 9800 GX2 will kick its ass to kingdom come and then the 9800GTX will still be the most powerful single-core solution. ATI will be fighting the 9800 GT entry level - $150 market. AMD do not have the financial muscle to take anybody on at the moment so will play it safe and boring...

... yet again!

BTW, Nvidia 9800 X2 is due out in a few weeks, March 11th to be precise. I already got the money in the bank! Crysis with 8xAA here I come baby!
