afaik are they use more energy and are more (in case of a 8800) expensive. And a
8600 is not an option since it is (afaik) not really that much better then a 3850 (and uses a lot more energy according to some benchmarks
*). A 8800GT is also not a card that my rig will be able to use for 100%, since my RAM (pc3200) will be too much a bottleneck afaik. And let's not forget that a EUR 200+ card doesn't make sense in a DX 9 system.

So since it won't make sense in this case to use a GF 8xxx, wish to try out something else
and the price (both price/perf ratio and the fact that I 'm not swimming in money), made me decide to flee to AMD.
