Also, as I understand it, the 9800GTX, 8800GT and the new 8800GTS all use the same silicon (gpu chipset). So they are all basically the exact same thing, only some of the shaders have been disabled and they are clocked differently. And they are using different memory modules, but that's a given.

I strongly recommend the 8800GT, I've seen more than one or two of them run just as fast as a 8800GTX in 3DMark06. And while it is just a Benchmark, it does give a good indication of it's performance for most games in General.
