Here's another little rant. This time it's Edge's turn. Sometimes when I'm waiting for the boat home I read through some gaming magazines, such as Edge. I respect Edge for being a professional looking magazine, with good in-depth articles, but what the hell is wrong with their reviews?? In the latest issue for instace they gave Splinter Cell a score of 7, and Vice City 8. Robotech: Battlecry also got 7. Is there something strange here? You betcha.

So, you could wonder. A well respected magazine obviously has a good editor, who is very much aware of the scores they give to high-profile games. So, do they oppose every other review on the planet just to do it? Sure, everyone's allowed to have their oppinion about a game, but saying that Splinter Cell deserves a score of 7 is wrong. Additionally Edge also gave Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring a score of 2. Obviously, the game was flawed and could've been better in almost every aspect, but 2?? Giving a score of 2 would in my book mean it's on par with a beta version of Daikatana.

I wish Edge would stick to interviews and articles, and refrain from short, blatant reviews that serve no purpose.
