I see your point perfectly, but im not directly offending you.
It is completely legal to have backups of your game, if oyu amde them yourself. Because the so called "back-up" you download from the internet is being shared by another user(s) who is doing what he/she isnt allowed to do: Distribute the back-up.
I understand the part about back-ups for SNES because it cannot make back-ups of your SNES games by inserting the rom into the computer (doesnt fit in cd-drive ;) ) and its a old console and the dont make games for it anymore (me thinks).

But concerning pc-games, xbox-games and etc. it is illegal to download other persons back-up cd's because they are shared illegaly.
