Ok i have a really annoying problem and its been bothering me for like 2 weeks now or less. I have no idea how it happened. Ok the problem is that when i see an image on a website and i want to save it and i right click and go save picture as it always saves it as bitmap and i can't choose any other type of file to save as. I think the problem started near the end of february. NOW sometimes it will save properly like for example lets say i want to save omegalasts sig it will save as omegasig as a GIF file and that is how it should be but 90% of the time on most images on the web they save as bitmap and title:untitled. This is really annoying becasue that means everything will usually save as a bitmap. I went to internet explorer right clicked it and went properties and went to the advanced tab and made sure all the settings were right then i went to my computer and at the top i clicked tools and then folder options and went file types and i looked to make sure all the extensions like GIF,JPG,JPEG opened with the right program and then i went to windows help and support and after all that nothing. Same problem. My friend gave me a good solution that i hadn't thought of ,all i had to do with the images (because of my problem) i would have to do another step than someone else . He showed me that hope wasn't lost i could just save the image as bitmap and then using my photoshop open the image and then i can save the image as anything i want so i can convert the images to jpeg like they should be. HOORAAYYY I thoguht my problem is solved i just have to do some extra work well i was WRONG. One problem remained. You know how some GIF images well most Gif images have movement in them like the smilies on this forum or omegalasts sig well because they get saved as bitmap they can't show movement as a bitmap so they get saved without the movement and when i convert them using PS well they convert to gif but since it was originally bitmap they don't show the movement. THat is the one problem. OTherwise i wouldn't have minded going the extra step with photoshop. To be able to get gif images wiht the movement i have to be able to save them as GIF intially from the webpage but thats is the whole problem. Soo i tried system restore to a time when the imgaes were saving as the file type they were but when system restore finished nothing happened same problem soo this is a problem with internet explorer or something system restore won't fix. SOO if anyone knows how i can fix this problem like change a setting or somehting or reinstall interent explorer soo it will work as it should or u know how with photoshop 6.0 i can actually ge those GIF to save as they should with the movement then i would be soo pleased. I really don't want to have to reinstall windows Xp pro and lose everything just to fix this soo i really need help. I will go get the program Irfanview which is a great graphic viewer and maybe i can do something with that. Soo if anyone knows how to fix this or can offer help or knows how i can save those gif images correctly using photoshop or irfanview then thats great because i don't mind the extra work with converting the bitmaps to jpeg or gif with photoshop i just need to get the gifs with movement to save properly. I HATE BITMAPS!!!!!!!!!!!!! PAINT CAN GO TO HELL
