heres the trick XLS:you gotta format that SATA hd first and Maxtor got this lovely tool available
Max Blast download this .iso image file Burn it on CD its bootable.set your 1st bootup device on CD-ROM in your bios then restart, max blast loads up lets you format the SATA hd swift n easy with its user friendly interface.
asks you if you want to add this hd as extra capacity to your existing operatingsystem(hard drive) or format it as a stand alone hd.answer it!
if i were you i would have put my operating system on SATA to get to load the WinXP fast on SATA instead of slow IDE.that means a re-install f your whole WinXP.
youre WinXP is on NTFS isnt it.if not dont forget to switch your whole HD's to that great improvement will be on the way.
and if you've tried and installed your WinXP on your SATA HD dont forget to assign your first boot device to SCSI in your bios.
still no plans for raid?cuz that may bring up another issues as well.
