Hello peoples. It has been a long time. I will get straight to the point. I already post this on a different forum so I am just copying and pasting. Let me know if you agree or disagree.

I was thinking of buying a new system from Alienware but after I configured a system the total came out to over $2,000. Without a monitor. I thought to myself I must have picked something out that I didn't want or need so I reviewed what I had picked out and the total was still over $2,000. WTF. $2,000 for a system without a monitor? ****ing fruitcakes are smoking some seriously good crack. Anyways I decided that if I was going to spend $2,000 on a system I might as well build it myself.
Asus P5AD2 Premium mainboard $273
Intel P4 2.8E 2MB 1MB cache $179
512MB DDR2 at 667MHz $245
NVIDIA Geforce 6800 Ultra $424
80GB Seagate HDD $65.50
LiteOn 16X DVD-ROM $29.99
480W PSU $87
Thermaltake Tsunami Dream chassis $129
Dell Deluxe Keyboard/Mouse combo $31
Total: $1463.49
FFS that is over $600 in savings. Keep in mind, the system I configured above is almost identical to Alienware's $2,000 system. The main differences are the case, of course, the powersupply and the keyboard/mouse combo. BTW I chose the Dell combo because everything is USB and since I already have a combo and love it I didn't bother looking at other options. And Alienware's case is not 100% aluminum. It is mostly plastic and SECC 0.8mm steel. I have seen their case in person. It is a POS and weighs alot.
I would love to own an Alienware system just because their systems look cool and because they spend time optimizing the system but come on, $2,000 for a system without a monitor is just ridiculous.
