Alienware and Falcon Northwest are indeed overpriced, but it's basically a case of "you get what you pay for". If you got the technical skills to assemble a system on your own, then that's clearly the cheapest and (in most cases) smartest way to go. If you don't have the technical skills, then choosing either of those companies ensures that you'll get a top of the line system tweaked to perfection with customer service that really IS customer service.
And i wouldn't recommend picking up a Geforce 6800 ultra right away. There aren't any games out there right now that require that kind of power, and there won't be for quite some time. Better to wait a few months and let the price drop, unless of course you have money to burn.
