Okay, so I bought the Sims 2 to play. I'm no computer genius, but I'm pretty darn literate. Installed it at my dad's house with no problem.

Now, I go to my mom's. Expect everything to go peachy. NOT! Instead of Direct X 9.0c installing right from the game, it prompts me to go to the Microsoft website and download it from there. I'm thinking, okay, official Microsoft stuff. Piece o' cake.

Well, this lovely little message pops up. "Cabinet files necessary for installation cannot be trusted." Wtf?! Okay, so, I go to random assortment of computer geeks that I'm acquainted with--who go to their friends, and who go to their friends. Several "sure-fire solutions" later, we try installing again.

....

"Cabinet files necessary for installation cannot be trusted."

Guys, I'm at my wits end here. I'm stuck at home all day long due to getting my wisdom teeth out, and I *just* want to play my new Sims game. Is that so much to ask?! Is it!?

*pout*

Any help would be much appreciated. More than appreciated. It would be loved.

I've tried things like installing XP Service Pack 2 (it wouldn't install) and screwing around with my security settings. Nothing works! I'm so frustrated!

Send anything that you think would make my days of fruitless searching better to babealicious14@msn.com or just post here. (And, no, I'm not 14. That email was created back when I thought I was cool and I'm too lazy to change it.)

Thanks *so* much!
