D2 doesn't need a XP patch.. it runs fine for me.
Yeah try all of those, particularly the best is Fallout 2 or NWN
Or if you have a PS2 and want an excellent and cheap thrill, try Everquest: Champions of Norrath. A very good looking diablo 2-esque offline and online action-RPG.
www.ebgames.com has it for 18$ or so
