Try going to control panel, sounds and audio devices, audio, click on the advanced tab under sound playback, go to the performance tab, and move the top bar to the left until it is at "basic acceleration" This reduced stuttering for me when I play WMHD movies through Windows Media Player, and may fix your problem for Doom III. If that does not work, move the bar one more spot to the left, and give that a try. Other than that, it might be ur motherboard- so try updating your bios as a final effort.
