Ok, I'll grant you that you know a bit more than the average Canook about US politics, which probably raises questions of it's own.
...
No, I didn't read Kerry's plan for a massive government run health care plan, I rejected the idea out of hand. I want less government involvement in my life, not more. Kerry and his running mate were about big government.[/b]

Okay, so why would you be able to pass a judgement on something you didn't even bother to read and say that Bush's plan is better? Alas, why would you say that we, foreigners, don't know anything about your politics and internal affairs if we, in fact, bother to read the stuff you don't? You know, it might sound almost ridiculous, if it wasn't true, which makes it kind of sad... But the average Canook knows much more about USA than the average Yankee does... That would include pretty much everything, from politics, to history, to geography.

Btw, I not only got my $400, I pay less taxes now. Period.
For how long? That was my question all along. Don't forget that the latest tax cut bill was signed by Mr. Bush on a pre-election rally, in front of his supporters -- not in the White House or the Senate... That just shows you what it really was - a political trick, measure reserved especially for election times... Mark my words, it won't last long. Actually I can bet you $100 right now, shall you accept it, that you should expect tax rollbacks by the end of next year... It will be especially ironic because the Republicans' smear-attack machine accented Kerry's plans for certain tax rollbacks as "bad" and "evil", regardless that they'll be forced to do the same thing themselves...

First, Bush allowed for pre-existing stem cells to be used in research, bet denied federal funding for any stem cells collected from that point forward. Second, one state allowing that to continue doesn't mean that MY tax dollars should go toward allowing aborted fetuses to be used for research as if they are some kind of left over lab rat. Third, Reeves would have died regardless of whether a trillion dollars was devoted to stem cell research. That stuff is over the horizon and theoretical at this point.
First, what difference does it make if it's today that they'll have nothing to work with, or tomorrow? The ban *is* in place. *sarcasm on* Second, of course, your tax dollars are much better off being invested in Bush's Mars exploration program instead of long-term medical research that could greatly benefit your nation in the future... I mean hey, maybe there actually are little green men living on Mars, and finding them is much more important than saving lives! *sarcasm off*. Third, it wouldn't be theoretical if it was practiced, no? In the sense of governmental support and funding for the program... And how can you predict the future with "ifs" and "would's"? All I know is that more could've been done for him, but it wasn't. Would it save him? I don't know... But trying wouldn't hurt.

You keep raising the issue of a weakening dollar. That is economically good for the US. A strong dollar means that foreigners have to spend more of their money to get US dollars, making tourism and imports more expensive. Sorry, but a devalued Dollar is a good thing, not bad.
Once again, you're seeing the half full cup, and not the half empty. Yes, now more goods are being bought by other countries from the USA. But there's less goods coming in, since the dollar's buying potential is much lower than it was before. And considering that USA is a country that heavily depends on imports (how about a concrete example: oil?), it's not such a great thing. As for tourism... Among all this almost worldwide animosity towards America's foreign policy and the constant domestic terror threat that you're living in, who do you think wants to go down to USA for tourism? Certainly not foreigners... Of course, you probably don't need us down in USA anyway, but it was you who had to mention tourism. And because of this same terror threat a lot of Americans would rather go overseas, where the Homeland Security danger meter is not "elevated", and where they're getting ripped off nowadays (I saw an American couple next to a downtown currency exchange bureau a few weeks ago lamenting about how their dollars were worth so much more only a few years ago...).

...sorry Bucky, economics was one of my strongest subjects in college, so trying to prove me wrong here will be quite troublesome for you
