nVidia 6600 problem

I bought an nVidia 6600 last week, and since have had problems running games. Some may have seen my post in the Battlefield 2 section, I thought this was a problem with the game rather then the card itself. It turns out, I have the same problem with Half-Life 2. Basically, the textures in the game are all over the place. Some are missing, some are smeared across the screen, some are fine. BF2 seems to be the worst hit, whilst Doom 3 works fine on Ultra High settings. I'm not sure how to describe what is going on any better, so I took a few screenshots of BF2 in action. I'll be contacting the store I got the card from tomorrow or Tuesday, but I thought I'd post the problem here before possibly paying them to look over it.

u didn't mention ur other config. if ur other configs r a'right then i thk its the agp ram. its no DDR3 ram. so its kinda hard to render the whole surface at a time specially for BF2.

What drivers are you running on?, update the drivers on your card Here (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_77.72.html) < if you are running on normal Windows XP (none 64-bit version)

These sort of graphical glitches appear when the card is over heated, or has compatibility issues with other PC components. In my case that was overheating. since you stated you don&#39;t know much about PC&#39;s I wont bother and explain to you how to check if your card is cooled enough using rather complicated ways, the simple way is to touch the left side of the case (the PC) after the PC was running more than 20 min. Start a game(that is graphically intense) and play it (Doom3 would be fine, but you can also run HL2/BF2) after 5-10 min touch the left side of your case (at the middle/lower rear side) and feel if it&#39;s wormer than other parts of the left PC side, not just by a bit but hotter.

If you can tell us what motherboard you are using (contact the company you bought it from) it would be helpful.

I had a similar problem with a 5600 256MB back in the day, it was an issue with not having the latest drivers... it would smear, and render wierd pixels.. and sometimes i would be staring at a Grey screen... but yeah id say download the latest drivers... it should work... but im not PC expert... im just an amature pc buff :rolleyes:

I&#39;ve got the latest drivers, tried older drivers and tried Beta drivers and it didn&#39;t change anything. I tried out Doom 3 and checked the side of the case, and seemed slightly warmer but it is hard to tell for sure because I have a pretty thick, metal case.

This bios has some major problems whit most of the cards...

Apparently, I don&#39;t have an nForce2 or nForce3 motherboard, I can&#39;t run the nTune file. I called the company I got the card from and they said to bring it in, so I&#39;m doing that later this afternoon. Thanks for your help guys, I appreachiate it.

I&#39;m kind of thinking in HD0087&#39;s way, the motherboard could do some problems, while you 6600 is perfectly fine, but then again i can be wrong and the card might be damaged in some way.

I use a similar, if not the same BIOS called : Award Modular BIOS V6.00PG, i think it&#39;s the same, but i don&#39;t have any problems with it, perheps it has something to do with the motherboard you have. If you can, find out what type of motherboard you got.
