GamersHell is proud to announce the Sega Genesis PS2 Contest! Here is a brief description:

Developed by Backbone Entertainment, SEGA Genesis Collection features over 30 titles including, Altered Beast™, Sonic The Hedgehog™, Shinobi III™, Phantasy Star™, and the original SEGA Genesis version of Golden Axe™. The games in the collection have been reproduced with the utmost accuracy to the originals as possible. SEGA Genesis Collection also features numerous unlockable items that delve into the soul of the Genesis including interviews with the original developers that created the games featured in the collection, a museum area with interesting facts about the games, a hint area to help gamers complete their favorite SEGA Genesis games, and SEGA arcade games from the Genesis era.

What must I do to get the glorious games from my youth you ask? Send me beer! hehehe Joke! In this thread, tell me which one of the games in the collection is your favorite and why. The three I deem the best, wins. Easy enough.

I enjoyed Shinobi the most because of the old memories of it kind of being like Ninja Gaiden classics. How can you also forget the bad ass 2d graphics back then?!!? Also one thing that was the best is the commercial, " Shinobi's Back!"

The only one i can say I've really played and enjoyed would be Sonic, probably one of the games that got into the world of gaming

another contest :D im looking forward to the end of the gears one but i will give this one a shot. I really really really liked altered beast. because i thought it was diffrent. running around and then you can turn into a monster and just take everyone out, sure it was just a straight beat em up game but it was extremely hard also because you werent given to much life and there were a lot of enemys. It gave me many hours of fun :D

I always liked Altered Beast and how you could transform into different creatures, and they had that kickass transformation animation, too bad I could never transform into a drunken monkey :D .

Golden axe, because it was possible to play with a friend and the second game after Scorched earth that made me realize gaming with friends is amazing fun.

Edit: But I won't be able to play this one because of regionlock :crybaby:

Without a doubt, I would have to choose the original Vectorman. When it was released in 1995, I couldn't wait to play it. It had everything you could want in a game: great stylized graphics, sound, and most importantly, gameplay. You could morph into different things, including a tank, airplane, and even a bomb (in case you're in the mood to blow up your enemies along with yourself). :suicide:
On top of all this, Sega announced shortly thereafter that only a few cartridges had a special bonus feature: after beating the game, you could get a "You Won!" screen with a special phone number and code that won you all sorts of great prizes and money. If that didn't tempt you into playing the game, nothing would.
And one other thing, which I thought was both ingenious and annoying: if you cheated to beat the game (which of course I did), you got another message: "Please play through the game again without cheating." You have to laugh at that.

Easy, the original Sonic the Hedgehog. It was the sole reason responsible for my drooling over the Sega Genesis when it first game out and I got a small taste at a friend's house. Who can forget their first experience creating a blue and red/white blur into a bottomless pit the first time after discovering just how fast that dang blue hedgehog can move? I played for days when I finally got my Genesis. Even today it remains one of my favorite games due to the overall nostalgic reasons and the fact that it's still freaking FUN compared to a lot of today's games. Simple gameplay, great sprites, and unforgettable levels (I still to this day have a special loathing of the Labyrinth Zone...) had me gripped for years since June 1991.

Sonic the Hedgehog is easily my favorite game in the collection. Never will another Sonic game beat the original. I loved the level design and the fast paced action that never seemed to end. It was challenging yet extremely fun for me (I was maybe 6 years old when I first played it) I will never forget the first time I played that game, Sonic was the only game that was able to replace Mario for me. Like someone above me mentioned, to this day Sonic is way more fun than even some next-gen games because it is simple, easy to control, intuitive, and simply original. I just love hearing the "bling" sound when I collect those golden rings (of life). Sonic is truly one of the best games in history and I will never forget it because it took a huge role in my childhood.

Definately sonic the hedgehog. I played that game as a young child, and it was the game that sparked my interest in video games. Sonic was easily the greatest game of its time.
