omg i am really pissed off now!
i just heard a news blerb on my tv about a total smoking ban in kanawha county west virginia.
i swear if they do that i will make it my mission to get every one of my local officials booted out of office come next election!
if this happens you will not see me on here very much because i will be out on the streets w/ a petetion! this is the begining of the end of freedom in my beautiful country! man i am pissed when the news does come on i'm going to watch it and will post an update about what it says.

update
and thus is the way the tv news in the usa works. FEAR!
they made it sound like the ban was on smoking anywhere in the county.
however it is the add on to the no smoking in restaurants law. which will now be applied to bars and gambling halls.
basically no smoking in any public building. not no smoking anywhere in the county.
still its a bunch of bs.

its fucking ridiculous man if they tried doing that here they would never suceed there is only so far us smokers can be pushed before we jsut snap... i may be wrong but in canada and the us i thought we were allowed freedom of speech and individuality, if they start this crap we will no longer have any freedom to smoke if we wish and when/if that happens ther will be more violence ^^ ill be the ring leader

A total smoking ban is just insane! I can understand banning it in family resturaunts but, still think it should be left up to the owner. Banning it in bars and gambling places is just insane! Not being able to smoke in a bar is like not being able to get a happy meal and McDonalds! Lawmakers think they are protecting ppl from bad things but, all there are doing is alienating a group of ppl. It's no wonder I never leave the house anymore :D Idiots!

That's a very unhealthy attitude in my house. I would probably
have to stick you outside on a chain with the dog as company :-)

a ban on smoking in public places is the right thing to do, no offence cause i also like smoking a sigarette (or somethin else lol) from time to time. depends on the occaision! but you should also think about the people near you. if they dont want to sit in your cancer walm of smoke it is you who needs to move, not them.

As of July the 2nd it will be illegal to smoke in pubs, clubs, restaurants, cafes, offices, train stations... basically all indoor areas in the U.K & Australia

Banning smoking in pubs is bloody silly as now the smokers will go out onto the street pissed as maggots and in some cases fights will start or as soon as they have finished their smoke the bouncer will say you can't come back in cause you have had enough to drink... or cause you smell of dirty evil smoke :D

The problem with laws like these is once the fascist lesbian do-gooders get their way on one thing they move onto another, like banning smoking in all outdoor areas maybe even in your own home or car.

Once Cig's are gone will they move on beer... then coffee.... then fluffy bunnies.

It's a fact, give them a little & they will want the whole lot.

As for FREEDOM - don't make me larf

they are trying to ban smoking in your car already.
in west virginia a law i currently in the state senate that roughly says...
if you have a child in your car under the age of (i think) 13 you may not smoke.
the fine for first offense will be between 50 and 500 usd.
and no they don't care if you roll your window down.

oh and epidemic
in L.A. the air outside is estimated to be some 10x worse than smoking a cig ever 3 hours for the rest of your life in any other city in the U.S.

well now i'm curious... a total smoking ban...
would that make it compulsory to ban smoking everywhere inside,
or could you have 'smoking pubs' like you used to have smoking areas...
(ie pubs for smokers, pubs for non smokers type thing)

OMFG, Syanide has escaped from Azeroth! :poke:

I am a relatively moderate smoker and drinker... but it hasn't always been this way.

Banning smoking in most public places should have happened years ago. However they are going to shoot themselves in the foot by banning it in all pubs and bars. All my friends and I enjoy a nice cold pint of beer (or 10) with a pack of 20 smokes... If we cant smoke and drink in our favourite boozer, then we wont drink there at all! Instead we will buy our beers from a shop and go to one of our houses.

In the UK the government make a huge amount of money from taxing alcohol and smokes and if this income starts decreasing they are going to get into debt. Huge government schemes for hospitals, welfare payments, etc rely heavily on the income from beer and smokes. In the UK tobacco taxation amounts to £11 billion per year whereas a figure for the National Health Service spending on tobacco related disease is only £1.7 billion. So thats £9.3 billion spent elsewhere. Where will this money come from if people stop smoking as much?...

...Could it be that non-smokers will have an increase in normal taxation to compensate?

yeah they did that here they just poped up and said no smoking in pubs and any pub or hangout that jsut bought a smoking room got fucked big time cuz they had to tear them down..and still they had to pay for the dam thing in the first place so many buisinesses went bankrupt here just because of it and now pubs are only half full since smokers dont wanan drink if they cant smoke.

Total ban, no way around it.

It's funny, ..you can't discriminate against homosexuals yet you can against smokers - I'm saying that cause some fucked up place in Australia has a pub that you can only enter if you are gay, the bouncers on the door will not let "straights" in... Why?, I know in a smoking pub they argue that you could die (lol) from the smoke, is it the same deal at the "gay's only" pub, you may get Aids & die sorta thing :dennis:

I used to be a courteous smoker (when outside move away from the non's & light up), Now I'm going to blow it straight in their bitching faces, if the two bit assholes want to try & take away my rights & choices they are going to have discrimination laid on their asses :D

Nothing like a Beer & a Ciggy... then back to Forza 2

Well, imo they should prosecute every smoker like a criminal. Smoking should be also be forbidden in your own homes...just for kicks :D

lol i think that once they start pushing this ban more and more and start taking away more peoples rights for smoking there will be a huge blowout seeing as how many doctors and all that crap have said smoking is a dam hard addiction to quit..and i dont wanan hear some dam person pop up and say i quit cold turkey only people ive see nable to do that are ones who havent smoked alot or have had something like surgery that he coulda died..even then they still sometimes smoke..so if they continue to remove where we can smoke we wil get violent and kick all ur non smokin asses
