This is freakin nuts! :banging:

Knock it the HELL off!

Seriously, I really enjoy this forum. There are people here that I consider friends. But constantly having to fight through bug after bug after bug to post, or to read a post is really wearing me down.

So in short...

FIX THE FUCKING THING AND LEAVE IT ALONE!

I'd blame Francesco's optimizations as usual... Francesco, is that your doing?

What do you think, John? <_<

My mistake, according to forum logs it was olympusxp that screwed things up... Sorry Francesco, but I'm just used to the fact that you're the only incompetent GH staff member :)

I'm not sure what to say at this point. hiv and Interman have both been on the board today and it is still royally f**k*d up.

4 minutes ago when I tried to reply here I got this:

mySQL query error: SELECT id, member_id, running_time, location FROM ibf_sessions WHERE id='####' and ip_address=###

mySQL error: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
mySQL error code: 2002
Date: Friday 18th of April 2003 03:06:00 PM

Francesco, if you guys can't get this thing to work any better than this, you seriously might consider just taking the forum down, because it is making you all look like a bunch of morons.

I think the MySql engine must be updated or re-installed. Its just a problem of Queries <_<

That error has nothing to do with the forum, it is only MYSQL, that probably happens when it has too much load. I had to reset mysql 3 times today as the box was getting unreachable. We only have 512mb of memory... this box was too much 6 months ago, now it is completely dead. Sorry but I'm waiting for answers from various parts, including current host just to put 512mb more. Not my fault if people take weeks to answer.

I remember you how, to change cpu, we had 3 days downtime, that's why I fear going on with major changes.

Thanks for telling us, the problem then is the lack of memory :dots:

issues are not fixed, it is just we are not having a visitors rush like previous days (and it is not peaktime anymore).

Which link was broken? Top Right GamersHell.com here seems to work.

:bangin: <-- I'm the one with the hammer, server is the other one

Bucky olympusxp here.
No I did not screw things up.
I was adjusting certain "visual" settings with the forum like Francesco asked, and all is well now and I believe everything is fine. MYSQL errors have nothing to do with us and are out of our control.

Also, whats links are you talking about?
Very top right link "Gamershell.com" works fine.

Logo for the forums at the top left works fine as well. Clicking on a logo that says "Gamershell Forums" generally will take you to the forums lol.

As far as the javascript error, well, that one is sort of out of our control as well. It's javascript code from our advertisement company and it doesn't want to work too well with the forum.

I am not seeing this link. I suspect it might have something to do with me being in the US?

I get the Gamerhell.com link on the left side of the top frame, but the right side is just a blue field without a link embedded. No graphic at all.

[edit] If it will help, I will do a copy on the source and email it. Let me know where to if you would like to see what I am seeing.

And for reference.... I never accused you of messing things up. Reread the topic :)

Don't try to make this out like I am calling an individual out on this. I am simply pointing out that the forums being hosed is making the site look bad, and that isn't good for anybody here.

Mysql problems are certainly an issue that rest with this domain. Who else could be responsible for it?

If it requires an upgrade on the box, fine. In fact, tell us what you all need for a hardware upgrade and see if the users won't pitch in and help out. I'm sure willing to throw some dollars your direction for that :D

Can't you add an "onError = null" into the advertiser's script section?

On a better note, the last two days have seen more activity in the forum than ever before :D

..and it has been performing beautifully (knock on wood). I have had the occasional slow refresh, but no broken links, and no errors.

So whoever went in and got the code streamlined, wtg!

.. and for the rest of you, leave it alone!!!!!!! :bangin:

LOL, i agree with Bucky it seems that forum is runing smoothly the last 2 or 3 days without any "MYSQL error" problems, it was a pretty annoying problem, i hope that we have surpassed it

Just wait and it will lag. Javascript thing is solved, it was not any advertisers. Mysql is fine just since of easter, things will start to go bad from tonight :)

I may have an advertiser that will sponsor us a usa download mirror, if so I will move the advertisment script there as well, getting main server cpu back to the site alone.
