Hello GamersHell community!
Our team at QuantiCode is proud to announce that we have released
a public beta version of our game "Zero Ballistics" !
The game is designed as a multiplayer online title, featuring some fast-paced
tank action. There are two opposing teams battling each other with heavily
armed and armored tanks.
Players control their tank from the ego-perspective and fire weapons with a
ballistic trajectory at their enemies, which requires a good aiming skill. Each
player can equip his tank with different primary and secondary wepaons and
can choose from a range of additional skills. As the game progresses, players
are able to upgrade their tanks with weapon, speed and armor enhancements.
Please visit our website Zero Ballistics - Tank Game (http://www.zeroballistics.com) for
more information and download the client there!
Hopefully you will enjoy playing our game and you are welcome to post any
feedback to our forum (http://forum.zeroballistics.com).

We are using our own engine, it's based on C++ with OpenGL and using some other libs like SDL, ODE and OSG. The Artwork has been created with Blender and the textures with Photoshop.
regards,
Michael.

I know Blender, I downloaded it some months ago for Ubuntu ("Linux"). Though I haven't used it yet, since it is too complicated for me and the engine I use works with sprite graphics (Game Maker). But I am up to teach myself to program with either C(++) or Python. Then I may start to make stuff with Visual3D, of wich the alpha versions look promising.
I can imagine that Photoshop is a good program to draw textures. Though I prefer the GIMP *, since it is mult-platform, free and and an excellent piece of software. The tools, layer-stuff etc. are put in seperate windows, which is quite useful when drawing big images. So the several "parts" are not being in each others way so much.
That is why the Linux versions are so great IMHO. When running Ubuntu, I put the image on desktop 1 and the other windows on desktop 2. Because in my opinion, flipping my desktop cube is "easier" then having to "search" for the window I need. Just imagine a systen with 1 desktop and several programs running, and you will get my meaning. :)

This game certainly needs a little bit of work. It isn't really bad, just a few things. The first issue for me is that you can't turn the tank unless you are moving forward or back. The tanks zoom around a bit too fast, IMO.

There should be some mirrors now that provide fast download rates.
Any feedback, comments on the second beta version is welcome. I would really like to know how many people from here have actually played the game and how many liked / disliked it?
kind regards

It is getting better and better! :D Especially since teams in Team DM actually start operating as a group. For example, the use of teamspeech seems to be rising. And the last times I have been playing in Team DM, I experienced much more "coördinated attacks", two or more tanks forming one assault or taking one defensive position.
I can barely wait for the alpha version! :D

I think that they STILL need to allow for turning without forward or backward motion. It's a tank for god's sake! They can turn while stationary. Also, I think the tanks move around way too fast.

@ BuffaloChips: Haven't you noticed that the tanks have 6 wheels instead of caterpillar tires? If they make the turning more realistic, they have to redesign the tanks too. And then the excellent gameplay may be "killed". The way of driving makes certain commonly used playing styles impossible, strongly influencing the gameplay concept. That the tanks are "driven like a car" has good reasons.
