on running hitman2 demo an error message pops saying:direct3d unable to create device, try changing resolution or color depth. i tried both and failed

problem:

on running directxdiag. i found it:on trying to test direct 3d:

it succeeded in testing hardware accelerated direct x 7-interfaces

but, using 8 interfaces ,it did not work

i rerun setup file for directx 8.1,but still same problem

do u know a solution
thanks anyway

reinstall graphics card drivers, updating to latest version... let us know something about your hardware or contact hitman support directly http://www.gamershell.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

where? in the display adaptors in the settings in the control panel, well i did and searched for updates of the driver,i found only similar drivers no updates. and was recommended to keep the current driver, but i changed it hoping it will make the demo works, but it did not and i still have the same problem.

concerning my hardware from the display adaptors in the system in control panel it reads:S3 Inc.Savage4 GT

is this the required information?

should i try the last option and contact eidos interactive?

thanks http://www.gamershell.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

from what i understand the demo doesn't support a whole lot of hardware, so i'd say you'll have the greatest chance of actually playing it if you have a nvidia gfx card, preferably a geforce 1+

Another thing you might want to do is download the latest: DirectX version 8.1b from http://www.microsoft.com/directx
or install DXMEDIA 6 in case you don't have it, or upgrade your video card drivers to the latest version (in case of nVIDIA video card, download the detonator driver from www.nvidia.com).

Hope this helps, if not try Eidos tech support, there's a telephone and e-mail contact for that I believe from www.eidos.com.
