As you've probably noticed, our site keeps growing and I thought it was time to ask you, our readers, your opinion about our recent changes.
Do you wanna see more previews/reviews? more news? more next gen consoles articles? more cheats? more screenshots? more demos/movies?
What do you think about our layout? what about the content?

Please take a few minutes to tell us what you like/what you don't...and how we can improve it. Thanks in advance http://www.gamershell.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

howdy. What about the gta3 demo . nothing huh? well I want to invite all to my home place, www.forcedexistence.com come by and post something about games to get these sickos (like me) into some software, like me.
well I would really like to know where the best pc demo site is. I see it getting harder and harde to find alot of old and new game demos. and if you own the copy you should be able to share it. and other things. but I dont wanna spend more than the $49.95 a month for the cable modem and plus play on ten or what ever the most popular onling game system there is. are any free if you actually own the game. I have max, alice, nascar 2002, devil inside, alone 4, and other but cant find gta3 yet. any hoo Im a gamer and I wanna ditch the ps 2 and enjoy the GeForce 4 mx440 but no, I couldnt afford the ti44o w/128 mg ddr. (mine's 64 ddr) why would any one use the pc133?
What about this new ddr pc2700 512mb I could use 2 of these and have a kill job going on. I love it. My processor is a 1.1 Ghz Duron. Can I get alittle feed back on these? it was only $60 with the fan.
How about SiS chip sets? anybody got any input on these?
also ATI vs Nvidia?
Lets talk a little hard ware? and what I can upgrade if need be...

beats my old system!

p233 mhz mmx
64 mb 72 pin ram
rage pro 8mb PCI video
awe 64 sound Isa card

in other words S L O W

And in a matter of two months and only 350 bucks, i have the kill deal, well please talk to me. THaaanks.

The good news is that we have some new really nice hosting. You might've noticed the New World Order download; that was the opening of it. We'll do our best to mirror the files we think people want the most. And what's pretty nice is that it's on a 100mbit link, which can be 1gbit if needed.

We don't have limitless storage, but we'll try to cover the coolest files. I remember using happypuppy for downloads a good deal of years ago, but that was then. Also, if you want to grab some of the latest demos without even having to download anything you can just buy a magazine, since they have at least some nice ones.

Getting more ram is always nice, and the added speed of DDR is obviously a plus too. If I were you then I'd save up for the ti4200 / 4400, sell the mx, because you would get A LOT better performence, and more advanced visual features like vertex and pixel shaders would be supported. You might've seen the amazing water in Morrowind? It uses a pixel shader, but it requires a geforce 3 / geforce 4 to be seen, but the mx line of cards don't support it.

Since you motherboard supports socket a cpus I'd save up for a athlon xp 1800-2000+, sell the 1.1 ghz duron and get a good fan along with it.

You could get really nice performence on your pc, but it will take a little bit of money, but not awfully much.

Where to start...

- Your reviewers need to go back to school as their grasp on the English language is absolutely laughable!!

Case in point from the completely bogus review of Eternal Darkness for the Nintendo Gamecube by your author Jacob "Rem" Walters

Take a look at this closing paragraph

Since this review has nothing but a bash of Eternal Darkness and a plee for you not to buy it, I offer so other suggestions to spend your $49.99 on that will offer more then this game.

HAHAHA!! Nice job there Jacob. Perhaps that REM nickname indicates your sleep state during English class!!

JACKASS

- Your site design looks like the 12 year went crazy in front page!

- The whole hell reference is sooooo lame!! I guess you think it makes you cool, when in reality it is quite queer!

lol, thanks nodoze

I really appreciate your open mind and space for different point of views.

if you find a free domain that sounds better than gamershell we will move.

the REM joke is a bit poor, but well you tried, of course in future you're not welcome to look at our FREE site, instead, PLEASE pay for an IGN or GAMESPOT subscription and stay away from us http://www.gamershell.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Ive noticed that the news is kinda hard to navigate and gives me a confused feeling, perhaps stripping it down a little on graphics and giving it a simpler look could improve the site.

kbyte... I made some changes, consider them a test, putting images on left and text on right instead of having them sharing same area.

let me know if this seems to help, I agree with you, but removing the pics will make us just another news website..., still the fastest ;o)

Its less confusing now. Could the "Features & Reviews" box be stripped down on its empty spots so that it doesnt take up such a big area on the front page. I don´t know if that would create problems with the tables.

The thumbnails in the "Latest Screenshots" box never showed up on my screen but that could be an error on my own since there are some heavy load on my network atm, what I wanted to know was if the linked text shows up on the right of the thumbnail or under it. If it does show up on the right side of the image perhaps it could be moved directly under the image so its above the date & time. Perhaps it just makes it more confusing for the viewer to associate the right link with the right image. Also in some tables/cells the font size is quite big, like in the 'search box' and the 'releases this august' box. Sizing it down a size or two may result in some improvement.

Lastly I agree with you about removing the pics would make it just another news site, I ment the other graphics like table bars and corners etc. The changes you made were really good and made it look more organized.

I hope this reply didn't make me figure as a complete wiseass :P

I frequented IGN and Gamespot a lot before they went pay, but now I think I might go to them once a week at most.

On the other hand, since I found you guys about 2 months ago, I've stopped by pretty much every day, sometimes twice or three times a day. I'm not a big review or preview reader, I just look for news in the industry in general so your site is perfect for me!!!

Keep up the great work guys!!! http://www.gamershell.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

thanks to TFO=Viper

Latest screenshots should work.. it is the first time I get a report like that... can u make an ascii graphic about what you mean? The game name is on right as well as date, and the game name is above the date currently...

which browser are you using?

if you have some free time, show on efnet (IRC) on channell #gamershell ... would like to talk more about the layout with you.

I used to frequent IGN and GameSpot when they were free. Now I seldom do.

Found this site through the GBA Development side of things. Then I started reading reviews and other stuff on the site.

I reckon it's pretty good. Good to read an alternative view on Eternal Darkness. Also, the release lists are great. It's hard to find a European release list.

But where have the GBA forums gone? Have they been moved or removed? Where are they / When will they be back? They were my main port of call. Â*http://www.gamershell.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

Yea I love your site. You guys always have new demos, trailer/gameplay movies, latest patch info and links to previews and reviews of games off site. I always check here for latest news. The only thing I don't like is I think the reviews are a bit lacking. Though I don't base my opinion of a game off any one review anyways. Keep up the good work guys! Your site rules. U can't find the links? Hmm...weird. Normally, there's always a 'related link' on the bottom left of each article/demo/patch/cheat. All u have to do is click it to get the file u need...

If u have an example, please don't hesitate to give it - so that we can fix it if needed.

I like the site but hate the reviews on it in terms of content, not score.
(Not all though, for instance, the Mafia review was great)

I used to visit Gamespot often before it was changed to paysite...

I also frequently visit Adrenalin Vault (for the cheat collections)

Anyway, I like your site. Simple and easy to navigate. The reviewers are not as "pofessional" (no pun intended) as the ones in Gamespot and I hope you will be able to recruit some good partime reviewers soon. Whatever you do, please don't change this to a paysite unless you are going to make tons of money by doing so. (Hey, everybody want to money too&#33http://www.gamershell.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

It's a great site. You should do a section where you can add fan site links. This would increase the gaming community.

I think LunaTek is hidden under a rock or something...
But I think I know what he meant...

If lunatek have done a site that are pretty nice...
Like GH3D.com =))
And have alot of stuff for games, mods, patches, demos, screenshoots why not support this site and put up the links at GH3D.com som he will get some more clicks...

I think it´s what he meant...

Hi
What I meant was that you could let people add URLs of their fan sites of games, to Gamershell.
In exchange, you could ask them to put a Gamershell banner on their site.
This way, Gamershell gets recogntion and people can find fan sites of their favourite games. It makes the gaming community better!
