Well, we need a decent thread about what we all read. So, tell us what book you're reading, what it's about, and whether you like it.
I'll start.
For my Norwegian term-paper I have to read 3-4 books about a subject of my choice. I chose The Borth of Science-Fiction in Norway, and amongst the books im reading I'm currently going through UÃ¥r, by Knut Faldbakken. I doubt any of you have heard about it, but it's a book about a future city in depression where a small family moves from the city to a huge garbage dump.
So far the book is good, and original.. Pretty well written, but I'm not sure whether it has been translated to other languages.

Books? What are books? I remember I read one once, but it was long before the computer took hold of me... So I can't even remember what it looked like http://www.gamershell.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

Books are kinda like the manuals that come with your computer or games. Only bigger. and without pictures http://www.gamershell.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

Anybody that likes military Sci-fi, check out David Drakes latest Hammer's Slammers book... Paying the Piper.
One of his best yet.
Personally, I just finished final exams yesterday, so I haven't been reading much except text books lately. Â*Gonna hit the library tomorrow and see what I can find.
That book you mentioned hiv, N? is it published in the US, and who authored it? I'm a big military history buff, and a Napoleon book sounds interesting. http://www.gamershell.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
I realize that there are ppl that read history crap, although I dont know why, since there is the History channel! http://www.gamershell.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif But I digress, for those of us that read Fantasy I would reccomend Terry Brooks - Magic Kingdom For Sale - Sold and everything else he has written! The Shannra series is great too!

The History Channel rocks!
Kind of light weight at times though. Â*Some time ago I ran across a PBS series that spent 1/2 an hour examining a single battle. Â*That was a tremendously well done show. They did an awesome show in the battle of Berlin. Â*Only time I've seen any kind of analysis of that mess.
Only caught about three episodes, and haven't seen it since. http://www.gamershell.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif
[edit] History Channel just announced that they will be running a program called Hall of Fames Stories..... the next episode is about.............. BOWLING!!!!!!!! LMFAO!
Love the History channel, TLC, and Discovery. Although, with exception of the Histoey channel. they need to stop showing those stupid home shows. I dont want to discover a queer redoing my house! I can goto the local home improvement store to catch a class on what my wife wants me to do! Bring back the days of the ocean and outer space! this is crap ppl want to discover! Although I am not a huge history buff, I love the history channel and espciallly Mail Call!

History has a great documentary about the Vietnam war a while ago, just terrific... Too bad I was out of tapes and didn't feel like ordering it for their usual ridiculous price of like $24,95 per every two episodes.

I usually read sci-fi / cyberpunk / fantasy books, like most geeks. Finished The Two Towers a couple of weeks ago, so to say I'm looking forward to the movie would be an understatement.

You're not a REAL gek if you've just read it. Now I'm a REAL geek, since I read it when I was 10 first time and re-read it about 10 times after that. http://www.gamershell.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

I'm currently reading "dispatches" by micheal herr. He was a war corresponded in vietnam and writes about the war in a brutally realistic way. Book is probibally one of the best I've read in a long time

For the definitive sci-fi/fantasy lover, you people have got to read Tad William's Otherland series. Hands down the best of the best. For history lovers, Band of Brothers is the way to go, and gor everyone else, there's nothing wrong with spending a little time with the Kama Sutra. It's got pictures and everything! http://www.gamershell.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Any one read the Dune series.
I just started the Butlerian Jihad. I think the change from Frank to Brian Herbert was floorless.
I still have to go with Calvin and Hobbes. http://www.gamershell.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Other than that the only thing I'm reading is Italian for Dummies! http://www.gamershell.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
