What an embarrasing review of Eternal Darkness on this site. Â*The reviewer is is more focused that his review "runs against the grain" than any concerns about accuracy.
Let's see, he slams it for:
* Poor Graphics. Â*Ridiculous. Â*ED isn't in Resident Evil's league on the cube, but its graphics are very well done. Â*They're average at the very least.
* Poor Sound Effects. Â*Also dead wrong. Â*The sound effects are excellent and come off very well in surround sound. Â*The PC speaker comment was idiotic.
* Bad story. Â*What is he comparing ED to in console gaming? Â*It's story is very good, not heavy-handed, and pays homage to Poe and Lovecraft. Â*
* The boring mansion setting. Â*How long did this knee-jerk reviewer play? Â*Certainly not to completion, as there are many different envionments.
* Too easy gameplay. Â*It is a fairly easy game until the final third. Â*Did he get that far?
Moreover, he doesn't really mention the great insanity effects or the nicely done magic system.
The reviewer has accomplished his only goal -- to post a contrarian review that bears no relation to reality. Â*With over 30 reviews for this game, the Gamer's Hell 37% is by far the lowest -- there's a couple 70% scores floating around. Â*The majority of sites, including the ones that actually pay reviewers, have ED rated over 90%
So congrats, Gamer's Hell. Â*If your intention was to appear amateurish, you got the right reviewer.
third time.. anyway:
can't you guys really accept someone had a different opinion? He had not what he was expecing after years of coding for $50 and for the best of next gen console (personal opinion), he got disappointed and we are hinting people to play another 10 games on the cube before this, wonder how many sites do not just prune these topics.

Of course I can accept that he has an opinion and should express it in a review. Can you accept the fact that my opinion is that his review is asinine?
There is always the possibility that your reviewer is the one that sees the light, and the other 50 reviewers for ED are simply slaves to the fashion of this time. You know, the lone genius theory.
Of course, the much likelier theory is that your reviewer is hopelessly addled.
well.. may sounds weird to have such a different result.
But since he had this opinion, we prefer to get a lot of people bugging but beware that someone may not like it, instead of switching the title to next reviewer and get another 80% for the title.

Post a review that disagrees with the mainstream and the fanboyz come out of the woodwork.
Get this:
Reviews are ALWAYS OPINION PIECES and should be taken in that grain. If you don't like the reviewer's opinion, you have two choices.
Don't read any of his or her reviews ever again.
Don't read any reviews on the site again.
Personally, I *love* seeing a contrarian review. Its easy to go out and regurgitate reviews posted on Avault and the like. It takes balls to write something that the majority don't agree with.
So what was your response? Attack an unpaid reviewer for disagreeing with YOUR opinion, instead of just using that mouse to click away.

Hyperbole superstar. One post is fanboys coming out of the woodwork? If you say so.

Who are you arguing with? Nobody in here disagrees with this.
>If you don't like the reviewer's opinion, you have two choices.

Nice try, but there's lots of choices. My choice was to write a message explaining why I disagreed with the review. I could just as easily tell YOU that you have the same 2 choices when reading my post.
>Personally, I *love* seeing a contrarian review.
Good for you. If you like listening to people that say GTA3 is horrible or Halo sucks, go for it. It doesn't mean they're wrong, but I would disagree with those opinions and say so.
>Its easy to go out and regurgitate reviews posted on Avault and the like.
It's hard to NOT plagiarize another review? Wow, you have such high standards.
>It takes balls to write something that the majority don't agree with.
Why? Negative e-mail? I hope you're joking. It takes balls to make a stand when there's something on the line, junior.
>So what was your response? Attack an unpaid reviewer for disagreeing with YOUR opinion, instead of just using that mouse to click away.
Apply your own standards, genius. If you put something in the public domain, you should be prepared to have people give you their opinion. The reviewer slammed a product that some people worked years on. I slammed a reviewer that spent about 10 minutes on a review. Deal with it.
If you disliked ED, disagree with me by all means. But don't come whining to me about "attacking" a reviewer. It's hypocritical and juvenile. If he can't take the medicine he dishes, he should stop writing reviews.

There's a difference between genuinely feeling different than the majority, and going against the majority "just kuz".
If he posted a well detailed and thought-out review, then it wouldn't matter.
But if it boils down to "this game sux, HAHAHAH I THINK DIFFERENT I"M COOL" then *yawn*
