Rants thread take 3

Didn't feel like digging up the old P&M thread.

I built myself this rig for gaming, and it is great. Friend asks me to build him one, same story.. runs great. My parents old comp is dying, so I build them one, again no probs.

So.. my older brother is having probs with his old POS, and asks me for help. After going over it with him and explaining what options he has, we head to the store and spend some $$ and I build him out a pretty nice rig.

We bring all the stuff to my place, and he watches me put it together and set it up. When he left it was running like a charm, except for the Zip drive, which I had plugged into the wrong IDE channel, which I fixed the next day.

A week later there is a problem, so I go over to look at it. Suddenly the OS (WinXP) isn't recognizing that there is a vid card installed. I did everything I could, and finally had to reinstall XP to get it to recognize the card. (Gforce2).

This kind of thing keeps happening, he calls me at least once a week, and that is at least 2-3 calls at a time.

I find out from my Mom today that he was braggin to her about messing around in the registry.

I think I'm gonna shoot him.

Lot of good that would do me.

He called last night, told me that he "suddenly" was missing a .dll file. Asked what he had done, and of course, he said he hadn't touched his comp overnight, but that Norton Firewall had recorded a probe. Tried to tell him that was nothing, but he....

ready for this?









Reformmated his HD and reinstalled from scratch anyway.

I don't think I will build another PC for somebody else again.

I'm at a loss for what to do now. He is my older bro. so I don't want to tell him to just deal with it.

These problems will keep on, I'm pretty convinced of that.

Well this is a short rant...My kiddies watch Peter Pan the play..and PETER was played by a girl!!! Now why on Gods green earth would a freakin girl play peter flippin pan???

As I sit up late nite and watch the tube, I wan to know what is on but am too lazy to go get the tv guide, so I do the next best thing and goto tthe tv guide channel, seems that would be a good alternitive....Hell no&#33; Sheesh I hate that thing. Most of the screen is takin up by ads or ppl yapping constantly and it leaves a fourth, or less, of the tv in which to view what is coming on. Since it is the tv guide channel I really freakin thing most of the screen should be filled with whats coming on&#33; If ya don&#39;t pay attention, you have to watch it thru 70 channels 4 times cause you miss everything. It&#39;s almost like a never ending pop up.
Since I am on the subject... why in the hell do stations feel the need to put movies on tv but edit most of the content?? It&#39;s very annoying with the voice over funny parts of a show because they swear. http://www.gamershell.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
