Fixed in this driver:

* Breed: Playing the game with the display device set to 1024x768 32bpp and AA set to 6x along with AF set to 8x and texture preference set to high performance no longer results in the game failing to respond
* HALO: Attempting to launch the game under Windows XP with an ATI RADEON X800 PCI-E series installed no longer results in the game failing to load.
* Joint Operation Typhoon Rising: An error message is no longer displayed when exiting the game under Windows XP with an ATI RADEON™ X700 installed. This issue occurs when the game option for Quality Performance is set to 1600x1200.
* Postal 2: The staircase now displays spots of red instead of becoming entirely red when a protester is killed using a machine gun
* Roller Coaster Tycoon 3: Playing the game under Windows XP with an ATI RADEON™ 7500 series installed no longer results in the building looking bright and appearing to flash
* Serious Sam: Playing the game under Windows XP with either an ATI RADEON™ 9000, 9200, or 9250 installed no longer results in Truform not being applied to OpenGL models
* Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. The Windows XP operating system no longer randomly fails to respond when loading multiple levels
* Will Rock: Display corruption and missing textures are no longer noticed in the game
* CATALYST 4.11 includes a memory allocation bug fix for all AGP RADEON™ products with 256 of MB of memory that significantly improves performance for applications that make intensive us of graphics memory
* Importing files that have been captured using Pinnacle Media Center into Windows Movie Maker 2 no longer results in the Windows XP operating system failing to respond when an ATI RADEON™ X300 or X600 is installed
* Display corruption is no longer seen when preview the 3D Pipes screen saver when the display device is set to 2048x1536 16bpp
* Using Windows Movie Maker 2 under Windows XP with an ATI RADEON™ X300 or X600 installed no longer results in corrupt colors being displayed in the preview window
* CATALYST™ CONTROL CENTER: The profile manager is now functioning properly when attempting to launch games such as Doom 3 and Quake 3
* CATALYST™ CONTROL CENTER: Using the option "Restore factory defaults" no longer modifies the previously saved Custom view

Will this new 4.11 Drive help any of the 9800 Pro's as far as performance goes . Nothing i have read in the release notes points it out , just for the X800 performance

Asus P4P8X
Pentium 4 2.6
ATi Radeon 9800 Pro

unfortunately, the 9800 Pro/XT and below don't profit from the new drivers with a performance boost.
I've tested it and performance was around 1-3% better or worse depending on the game.

But I'd suggest updating the drivers because of compatibility.

not true here. 4.11s boosted mine from 41-43K in Aqua to the nearly 48K. 3DMark05 is also at about 2550 instead of about 2200.

I'm talking of games. You know... like Bloodlines, Hitman 3, etc.
I know that it boosts some Benchmarks, but that's all. :)

I installed the 4.11 last nite and while my machine actually booted properly HL2 started to behave badly, VERY strange texture problems in game.

Logged out of HL2 and messed with the settings in the drivers, the driver configuration window locked up and had to be killed with task manager. The 3 executables that were being used by the ATI driver were using almost 100 meg of memory.

Yet another reason why my next card will *NOT* be an ATI card.
3 different driver installs, 3 different headaches. ATI needs to sack their driver team and start again.

lol. Sadly to say I have had no issues. Yet Im not even going to bother installing HL2 on my nvidia box, because Ive had horrid issues with them.

Whatever people like to think, the 2 are pretty darn equal in driver quality, its a case by case issue. Ive never had an issue with ATis, but I always seem to have issues on my GF4.
