hi y'all

i got a ASUS v9950 or Geforce FX 5900 to be precise,
the problem is if i install a forceware driver 6x.xx, all games really run terrible :( (normally 40-90 FPS, now 10-35)

At the installation of the new driver the installation sais: Cant pass the Windows Logo test, but i set this error to ignore, it still didnt help,

the latest driver i can run at is 56.72 which is about a year old... :nxs:, which is (what a coincidence) the last 5x.xx series driver

so can anyone explain to me why i have the driver problems?

P4 2,8 gig
Asus p4p800 Deluxe MOBo (865PE chip)
1024 MB DDR400 Dual channel
asus GeForce FX 5900 (not the XT or PCI-Ex)
Windows XP Home Edition (Dutch)

I hate non-working hardware

Did you uninstall the previews drivers first?

Try to do these steps:

1) Uninstall all NVIDIA drivers ( mainly in the Add/Remove program)
2) After rebooting you will get a very low visual look, low colors, low resolution but don't mass with the settings just install the ORIGINAL drivers that were given to you when you bought the card (a CD within the box)
3) After rebooting again install [http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_downloads_winxp_2k_67.02.html]these[/URL] drivers (not yet WHQL certified), skip the WHQL.
4) After rebooting the system for the last time adjust the display settings and run some 3d application to test the drivers.

When the screen pops while you are in the installation, just press the "skip" button. (Or similar, you'll see)

Normally you have to uninstall the old ones first

No, it does not quit simply press the skip button.

Do not install the new drivers before you made the steps above.

Why do you install the (CD) drivers, then reboot and install more drivers

This will just slow your system down :Oo:

Just uninstall all drivers marked Nvidia/display drivers from Add/Remove programs.
ReBoot (everything will be super large, but do not adjust)
Install the latest drivers for your card (from somewhere like http://downloads.guru3d.com/downloadget.ph...ddb39c4c11f1021 (http://downloads.guru3d.com/downloadget.php?id=934&file=4&evp=8c67416e9945da135ddb39c4c11f1021)
ReBoot
Adjust resolution settings etc...
ReBoot
Done

It does not slow your system down; many cards come with software's adjusted especially for the card. whether it's information only, programs only, overclock utilities and factory drivers which hold essential information regarding your card they all have impact on the cards stability/performance.

I personally have the original and the new drivers installed on my system, they both work correspondingly with no problems what so ever, plus I have my full information and utilities, which I installed with the original CD.
It does not slow my system performance at all, the only thing that could possibly slow the performance is installing more then one new drivers without deleting the previews one.

He can choose to install only the new drivers or original with the new drivers, it's up to him
From my experience, I prefer having the information, utilities and drivers, which came with the card's CD and at the same time 67.02 drivers. Both work very well together.

*UPDATE*
You can install new drivers over old ones with absolutely no problem, install as much as you want with out leaving fragments.
The special feature, which NVIDIA drivers have, is that they "take care" of your old drivers for you. Therefore, you do not need to delete the "old" drivers before installing new ones. :smartass:

I prefer not to have all the crap that comes on the CD, i only installed the drivers and these became dated very quickly, so in effect the CD is useless to me
