A while ago I bought some S-ATA disks and installed OS on it.

I got it working and all but windows kinda lagged and crashed almost all the time. So I tried to repair windows and then it said:

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
<Windows root>\system 32\hal.dll.
Please re-install a copy of the above file

I reformated but it still says the same thing. I have tried quick format and just format. Can anyone help me?? I really want to use my comp. It's my main rig to so I'm on a teahatty 500 Mhz laptop now.

there are many sites who have .dll files for download. as a matter of fact, lets google your file.

found! (1 sec search, lol)

download hal.dll:
http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?hal

install/unpack the zip in the system 32 folder, and it should be up 'n runnin in notime.

Well it's up and running again but my OS is Win XP Pro. Mobo is Leadtek K7NCR18D PRO 2. I use mobo for the S-ATA disks and some IDE. Some IDE at Pci. Don't know what array. Never did anything to it. So default?
