Well from my exprience as a user and installing them in my job, I would have to say any of the new SONY or Samsung SyncMaster sub-12ms displays are all pretty top notch tbh. Make sure you get a DVI interface for improved quality, calibration and probably latency (but cant be sure about the latency bit!)... Also some models with extremely low response times are known to have reduced image quality because of the increased times.

I have a SyncMaster 19" LCD (193FT) and its wicked, but it cost me £600.00 about a year ago! The market has changed recently with the big 3: Samsung, SONY and Phillips (They all make good LCD's) off-loading their stockpiles to smalller companies and subsidaries for extremely low prices. You could probably get my model now with a faster response time for £300.00 now, believe it or not.

NEC / Mitsubishi Flats are the top. You pay more for them but you won't get any sharper pictures. For some people the screen is too sharp.

My CRT is showing early signs of death so I have been looking around
for a back-up monitor while mine is in repair and so I have one on hand.
These 2 caught my eye:
l90d+ (http://www.hyundaiq.com/pro_spec_l90d+.asp)
nec (http://www.necmitsubishi.com/products/ProductDetail.cfm?Product=393&ClassificationFamily=2&Classification=1)
There seems to be a lot of compromise with LCD monitors.
I've never owned one and hardly think they can compare to my sony CRT.
I may just wait until someone puts out a LCD with native 1600x1200 and
at least 12ms response time. Or maybe it is out there and I have not found it.

I bet you could find a Hyundai L90D+ for around $370.00 or less.

is not always the best only it is well known-so there you go.
