OK here's the thing; I bought a Sapphire Radeon 9600Pro Advantage 256MB Video Card, and I'm using it on A P4 2Ghz 256mb ram pc. I tried BF1942 with all settings on max, resolution 800x600 and with ~20bots. And with these settings the game runs slowly, I don't get it why, is it because I don't have enough ram or my CPU is too slow? So can someone explain me why the performance is so bad...

P.S. I formated my PC so it should be clean

Its simple, your PC isnt equipped with enough RAM. Make sure your RAM is at least 512, but even that will hitch a little so go for a GIG of RAM. I have a GIG and the game runs like butter. Make sure you buy RAM that is compatible with your system. Many people come on here saying their RAM doesnt work. If you come to this point, its okay to ask but research before you buy. Thanks.

Thanks alot man. Thats what I was thinking because I thought that when ill buy a new Video Card the performance will be MUCH better than before, But I was very disapointed... Ill buy 512mb to make it 768mb, it should do the trick.

make sure the ram is the same speed aswell other wise it will run at the slowest setting

E.G. If you have ram that is 266Mhz or 333Mhz and you get a stick of 512Mb@400Mhz the ram will still only run at say 266Mhz or 333Mhz depending on what you have. :)

I knew that, but do you think they sell new 266mhz sticks of ram in stores?

having 768 megs will actually make your computer go slower i know that really sucks 512 or a gig

ram is a pain in the ass but its great stuff when you get it all sorted, a gig of ram is the only way forward these days, i'm starting to think of two 1gig sticks

Well it wont be worse than it is right now I suppose, because im just upgrading my old pc a lil' bit so I don't really care that much as long as it doesn't go worse...

As the nice guys before me were saying: The ram is the bottleneck on your computer.

The thing on your computer now is; most propaply your mainboard supports only 266mhz busspeeds (PC2100) which is incredibly slow.
Though you can buy now a stick of 512mb 400mhz (PC3200), I wouldn't adwise you getting it.

The best for you would be getting a nice nforce4 mainboard, a amd64 3000+ and two sticks of 512mb ram. Of course this costs a little.

Anyways, if you want just to get a 512 stick of ram, by all means get a 400mhz one (PC3200) so you can still use it if you decide to get a new computer.
