They are basically the same with a few minor (hahahaha) details.

For example; they both have 8gbs of RAM. Of course the X1 has ddr3 with three gigs dedicated to the OS' whereas the PS4 has ddr5 RAM that can be used freely.
They both have a 500gb HDD. The PS4's can be swapped. Not so much on the X1
They both have damn near the same controller as the last gen. Aside from the touch screen on the PS4's
They both will support indie games. Although the PS4 allows them to self publish. Not so much in the X1 camp
They both have DRM. Difference is, the X1 one is system side PS4 publisher side.
They both will play used/rented games. Although, MS has said you will not be able to do that at launch and you will have to jump through hoops to do so. PS4? Do what you want
They both require paid online. I really hate this!
They both make you connect to the internet every 24 hours to make sure you are playing the game you just bought. Oh! My bad. That is just for the X1
They both have CliffyB taking their side. My bad again! He was only taking MS' side because it is used games that are killing devs! It has nothing to do with the fact that most games are over priced and have to sell 6 million copies to break even due to huge budgets and even bigger marketing budgets. CliffyB is a common gamer!
They both cost about the same. X1 $500 PS4 $400. I always go with the more expensive one cause I have money to throw away just to make sure the NSA can hear me (hehe)
