dvd writer problem

my dvd writer was working until my brother in law got a cd stuck in it and now the computer does not recognize it being there i need to know how the cable are st up to make sure that when my husband took it out of the computer that he connected it right can anyone help

How did it get stuck? What writer is it, (what speed etc)
