Well i have a network at my house and everything was working fine and how i wanted it to.... then today i was looking around and i went into the network connections folder, and suddenly i have two network connections one being my local internet connection the other being an internet gateway connection... the problem is i didnt set it up to have one, im connected through a router. When i try to disable the gateway connection my net gets knocked off.....? wtf? im using a linksys wired router..... Anyway to fix this? Im running windows xp pro sp2, ... is there anyway to just delete everything out of that folder and restart over with the network?? or is this even a problem
No idea how it double posted sorry, |

K well I'll just assume your running two comps. on this network, so first delete that "gateway" connection, after you may have to run "create new connection" wizard to get your internet working again(follow the right steps & set it up properly)....then run the "setup home/small office network" wizard, follow the right steps when it asks you what type of network your wanting to run.
thats all I do and it works fine with two comps. But I also have to install "transport protocol" to get the 2 comps. to see each other on network but thats easy to do. this is with running SP2 btw :dennis: |

Yes, two computers and both sp2... however i cant just delete the connection... it doesnt let me the option is greyed out.... when i boot it in safe mode with networking it doesnt even show up, but when i do a full regular boot it does.... i am the administrator but i went ahead and booted safemode with networking and signed in the administrator *hidden* account and it doesnt let me delete any connections and the internet gateway connection also doesnt show up.

Whoop, ok in my case the reason being from what i understand, its basicly a component in windows that lets you see UPNP so .. the way to get rid of it, is to go in the control panel>add remove programs>select add remove windows components and select networking devices then details and you will see Internet Gateway Device and Control Client uncheck that and click next, that will solve the problem. It made mine leave the network connections. Alrighty l8r thx for the help anyway
