I have a very strange problem with BF2.
Before the patches(and after having to buy a new gfx card), the game ran well in both single and multiplayer. BUT, now, it wont run in multiplayer?! I have patch v1.02 installed. The game runs smooth in singleplayer, no problems at all. But when I join a server on the internet, I may be able to play for as much as 30 mins before my computer shuts down and restarts. When it has restarted I get the message that it has recovered from a serious error. It is VERY irritating! I have; AMD XP 2400 (2Ghz) 1024MB RAM DDR Gainward GF6600 GT ultra/1980 (256mb ddr3) Windows XP Home ed. SP2 ...and using the drivers that the game came with Anyone got an idea of what might be wrong? |

Well, thx to tips on various forums, I found 2 errors and fixed 1:
The one I managed to fix: Silicon Image S-ATA driver problem. Upgraded the drivers for my Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe Mainboard. - Problem solved The one I still have a problem with, but not that serious(as I can still play for a good while): Nvidia driver (Nvid4.drv, or something like that. don`t remember). Installed the newest Nvidia drivers - Can play for hours before anything happens (BSoD) |

man thats the same exact thing that happens to me. i also own a 6600gt! i wonder if its a video card issue ,like in the new drivers, or mabey something to do with the newpatch?? man it plays on mine for hours at a time, but at random times and various diff days it just shuts the game down and sends me back to the desktop! hmmm i have amd athlon 64 3200+ with 6600gt but mines the 128meg version. so we have a few things in common with our systems! i wonder what it could be. i know , this its irritating as hell! lol.

the thing is ASUS motherboards have a tendancy to crash or show fatal errors.
google 'CPU test failed' with ASUS and you will be scared.

Example MSI cpu test failed If your unlucky enough to get a cpu test failed then 99% its gonna be just that=cpu failure. I've always bought asus boards and yet to be let down personally i wouldn't bank on the prob being m/board related especially if its only BF2 giving you the bsod, its more than likely memory or driver conflict related...Tronne are you using a matched memory pair?what brand? Have you tryed un/reinstalling BF2+1.02 with latest mobo/sound/and grfx drivers? Also try this Driver cleaner to rid your system of all traces of nv drivers(graphics and mobo)then install the latest 77.72's graphic drivers and go here for the latest nforce 2 mobo, sound, etc drivers. If all else fails take the easy root(for me at least)and format your hdd with a fresh install of xp+the latest system drivers ![]() |
