Tis just not a good idea to buy a refubished puter when new parts are just as cheap

Ok if you buy refurbished computer parts you have no idea or proof of how badly the system was treated. Overclocking and electrostatic damage may have reduced the longevity of the components.

Plenty of online systems builders in the Texas area. If I were you I would buy a new barebones system which is:

Tower Case with 450W PSU,
Motherboard (with PCI-Xpress Slot, SATA HardDrive Compatible and Integrated audio),
CPU & Fan (AMDx64 3400+ and stock cooler)
1Gb Dual Channel DDR400 RAM Memory.

This should set you back no more than $180-220

Now buy yourself a decent PCI-Xpress graphics card ($120-250)
A nice big harddrive (150-250Gb SATA) = $80
A nice 16x IDE DVD-RW = $30-40
