The SIMS 2 Graphic problems

I have had The Sims 2 for a while and have never had a problem before. When I try to play the sims, it starts up just fine and when the screen shows up, it's all white and you can barely read the logo, I have Directx 9.0c, my video card is a Radeo 8500, I have Windows XP. Can someone please help me with this!?

Have you tried updating your graphics card drivers to the latest version? If you already have, try reverting back to older drivers.
