UT2003 Linux Server on laptop

Hi guys,

I wanted to install a UT2003 dedicated server for when my friends pass by to have a little lan-party.
I installed the linux version on my laptop (P3 700Mhz + 512RAM).

The server works fine, it is recognised in the LAN and I am able to connect. My ping is pretty good (~20ping) and my FPS are fine too.

The only problem I have is that my player can move but sometimes it lags for 2 seconds and then continues... this re-appears every 10 seconds. I installed the same server on a desktop machine (P3 550Mhz + 512RAM) and there the ping and FPS are the same but there is no problem with the lagg every 10 seconds.

Anyone an idea how this problem can be solved

Moving to appropriate forum.

Don't know if you have tried it, but you might have a better shot in a dedicated UT forum. Haven't seen much conversation round here about running Linux servers

give more details on the LAN adapter, maybe it is simply your ETHERNET driver... TRY to make an huge FTP transfer as a test or at least a continued ping with higher packet sizes.

Make sure you don't have any crap running in the background that's eating up resources.
