when i try to download games they come up under windows media

im new here and i also dont even know whether these games are supposed to be free and downloadable and if i need the disk to run them

please help

All the games here are free demos and some full free games. I guess you downloaded a trailer instead of an executable game.

Where are you downloading these "games" from?

If its a P2P network, which is generally illegal, then the game File could be in a different format that for some reason WMP is associating itself with.

Also, can you tell us the extension of the file you download. e.g Is it a ".exe" file or ".mpg"?
